Authorize.net Settings

To retrieve your API Login ID and Transaction Key:

  1. Log into the Merchant Interface at https://account.authorize.net or if logged in already, click the Home tab near the top of the page.
  2. Click Settings under Account in the main menu on the left
  3. Click API Login ID and Transaction Key in the Security Settings section.
  4. You will then be shown your API Login ID with the ability to also retrieve your transaction key.
    Please note: If you generate a new transaction key your old one will be automatically disabled within 24 hours.

To set your MD5 Hash:

  1. Log into the Merchant Interface at https://account.authorize.net or if logged in already, click the Home tab near the top of the page.
  2. Click Settings under Account in the main menu on the left
  3. Click MD5-Hash link in the Security Settings section.
  4. Enter the MD5-Hash you would like to use. This can be any string of characters/numbers that you prefer.

Disabling AVS (Address Verification):
Authorize can be configured to verify billing information before approving a transaction. This setting can be problematic, especially for corporate cards, where an employee may not know what office location/corporate address the card was registered under.

Due to the relatively low risk of fraud for eLearning products, many of our clients find it helpful to disable this setting in order to optimize order acceptance. We encourage our clients to discuss with their accounting/compliance team and make a determination on what works best for their business.

To Disable AVS

  1. Log into the Merchant Interface at https://account.authorize.net and click the Account tab.
  2. Under Security Settings click Address Verification Service.
  3. Uncheck the Reject checkbox next to each item listed and then click Submit.

Automated Recurring Billing (ARB):

Authorize can be configured to allow automated recurring billing.

If you would like to sell products with a recurring billing check the following within Authorize:

Enter your API Login ID, Transaction Key, and MD-5 Hash into your LearningCart Payment Gateway Settings page in order to enable payments.

  1. Log into the Merchant Interface at https://account.authorize.net and click Merchant Profile in the left menu.
  2. Ensure that ARB is enabled on your account - Click Sign Up next to Automated Recurring Billing. The Automated Recurring Billing Service Addendum page appears. Click the checkbox labeled I have read and understand the Terms of Service. Click I Agree.
  3. Set up the Silent Post URL function. Go to Account > Silent post URL and update it to be the url of your LearningCart site. For example www.sample.learningcart.com/silentpost.aspx
